Creator Rules
These rules keep KantoPay fair for players and for the creators who sell through it. They sit beside our Creator Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy: breaking one is a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy, and where these rules and the Creator Agreement differ, the Creator Agreement governs. Clause numbers below are the Creator Agreement's.
We may update these rules. We'll post the change here with a new date and email you at least 15 days before it takes effect, unless the law makes us move sooner. A change never applies to anything you did before it took effect. If you don't agree, you can close your account, and we pay out your cleared balance as clauses 8 and 12 set out.
1. KantoPay is the seller
- 1a. We buy each item from you at its Trade Price, your price less our 5% margin, and sell it to the player as merchant of record (clauses 3 and 6). From what we owe you we also deduct your share of the payment fee and the 3% percentage tax we pay on the sale; your dashboard shows each one (clause 6). The sale is between us and the player, so never invoice or charge a player yourself. You are still answerable under the Consumer Act for what you tell players about your goods.
- 1b. A sale that is refunded or charged back comes off your balance (clause 6). If it came from your breach, or you asked us to refund the player, a ₱20 admin fee applies too, unless the player was at fault (clauses 6 and 7).
- 1c. We may show your store, server name and logo to promote your server and its goods, on KantoPay and our other sales channels (clause 3).
- 1d. We may sell an item below your price, bundle it, or give a player a coupon, for a promotion, for support, or to make up for a problem. You are still paid the Trade Price of your own price (clause 5).
- 1e. We may stop selling any item at any time (clause 5). If someone says an item infringes their rights, we may take it down while we look into it; we'll tell you where we can, and you can reply to say why it should go back up (clause 22). If the DTI or another government agency orders an item taken down, we remove it, and you may not list it again.
- 1f. If someone copies your store or sells your goods on KantoPay without your permission, tell us. We'll look into it and may take the copy down. Outside KantoPay the rights are yours to enforce: report it to the site it's on, or to IPOPHL.
2. Your account and your stores
- 2a. You must be 18 or older to hold an account (clause 10). If someone younger runs your server, a parent or guardian can hold the account in their own name instead; payouts then go to the parent's own GCash or bank account, any ID check is theirs, and they are responsible for the store. One person per login: never share your password, and give your staff their own access instead (2g).
- 2b. Your account, its payouts and its tax records are in your name, and tied to your ID once you verify. So a store can't simply change hands. Tell us before you sell or hand over your server or a store. Then either ask us to move the store, or have the new owner, who must also be 18 or older, open their own KantoPay account in their own name and set up a new store there. We move a store only once we agree in writing and the new owner has verified their ID. Accounts and stores may not be sold, rented or handed over any other way (clause 13).
- 2c. When your server changes hands:
- Your balance never moves with a store: we pay it only to you (clause 6). If a sale made before the handover is later refunded or charged back, we recover it from you as clauses 6 and 7 allow.
- Once the server isn't yours, stop selling its items on your store (clause 4).
- Players keep what they already bought, such as ranks that haven't run out and gift card balances. Agree that with the new owner. If players lose it, we refund them and recover it from you.
- Player details from your orders don't go with the server or store. Delete any copies you keep, such as order exports and spreadsheets, unless we agree in writing to pass them on (clause 9).
- Until we move a store, it stays on your account and you stay responsible for it.
- 2d. Cash out only to a GCash or bank account in your own name (clause 6(c)), never to someone else's.
- 2e. Verify only with your own ID and your own face, never for someone else, and never let anyone else use an account you verified, even after you sell your server. Using someone else's ID, or buying, selling or borrowing a GCash or bank account to get paid, can be a crime.
- 2f. Opening more than one store needs a verified ID. All your stores count as one creator: their balances, refunds and debts are netted together (clause 6(e)).
- 2g. You are responsible for everyone you give staff access to, and for everything they do in your store. Give each person only the access they need, make sure they keep players' details private and use them only for orders and support, and remove their access when they stop helping. If player details may have leaked, or a staff account is taken over, tell us within 24 hours (clause 9).
- 2h. A split of your earnings with partners is between you and them. We pay only the account owner. Pay your partners what you agreed, and don't change an agreed split without everyone's agreement.
- 2i. Your payouts are your income. Registering with the BIR and paying your own tax on them is your responsibility (clause 6). Any BIR Form 2307 we issue is in the account holder's name, so it doesn't move with a store.
3. What you sell
- 3a. Only goods for your own game server: ranks, kits, cosmetics, in-game currency and server gift cards (Acceptable Use, section 2).
- 3b. Follow your game's rules. For Minecraft that means Mojang's Minecraft Usage Guidelines for servers, including what they say about selling gameplay advantages (Acceptable Use, section 3).
- 3c. Crates, keys and spins are fine, gacha-style, as long as every prize is something in your game. Never a prize of money, e-wallet or bank credit, store credit or a gift card, or anything a player can cash out or sell for real money, and no betting between players for money. The listing must say what the crate can give (Acceptable Use, section 1).
- 3d. Every item delivers itself. Its commands run through the KantoPay plugin when the player pays; never make a player open a ticket or send a message to claim what they bought. If an item truly can't be given by command, such as a custom build on your server, its listing must say how and by when it is delivered, and you must deliver it by then.
- 3e. Test every new item before you sell it, so the commands run and the player gets what the listing says.
- 3f. Everything you sell must suit players of all ages. Nothing hateful, sexual or excessively vulgar in items, names, pictures or descriptions. Never any sexual content involving a child, or a character made to look like one, drawn or in game: we take it down at once and report it to the authorities (RA 11930). If you're unsure, email us first.
- 3g. Use only names, logos, pictures, skins and text you made or have permission to use. You can say which game your server runs, but never use another brand's logo, and never say or suggest that Mojang, Microsoft or any other brand made or backs your server or its items.
- 3h. Server gift cards never expire, and a player can always spend what's left on one (RA 10962, the Gift Check Act). Never void a card a player paid for. If a card was bought by fraud or needs cancelling, tell us and we'll handle it.
4. Listings
- 4a. Say exactly what the player gets: what's included, which server or game mode it works on, and how long it lasts. Don't call an item "lifetime" or "permanent". Say "for as long as the server runs" instead, and say if a season wipe or reset takes it away.
- 4b. Put versions of one item in one listing, as variants or as a rank ladder (1 month and 3 months; VIP, VIP+ and MVP), not as separate near-copies.
- 4c. Put each item in the right category.
- 4d. No terms of your own. Our Terms of Sale and Refund Policy cover every sale. A "no refunds" line in a description has no effect and misleads players, so leave it out.
- 4e. What you tell players about an item, wherever you say it, must match its listing. If you promise more than the listing says, you must deliver it.
5. Sales and promotions
Discounts and promotions must be fair and lawful under the Consumer Act (RA 7394) and the DTI's rules on sales promotions, as clause 4 already requires.
- 5a. Every sale shows when it starts and when it ends, and lasts no more than 3 months in all, extensions included. After a sale ends, the item goes back to its normal price before the next one.
- 5b. A crossed-out "was" price, or a "-20%" badge, must compare with the item's normal price: the price it actually sold at in the last 90 days, or was on offer at for at least 4 weeks of those 90 days. That goes for a "was" price you type in yourself too. Don't raise a price just before a sale, or right after it, to make a discount look bigger.
- 5c. Give the discount you advertised, not a different one.
- 5d. No fake countdowns, and no "only 3 left" unless it's true. A sale with an end date can't say "while supplies last" or sell out early, so don't set a stock limit on an item while it's on sale.
- 5e. No raffle, giveaway, contest or other prize that a player has to buy something to join, including a prize for the top spender, unless we've agreed to it in writing and it has a DTI permit. A Top Customers list is fine on its own; just don't attach a prize to it.
- 5f. Show a sale only on your store page. Don't announce it anywhere else, such as posts or messages to players, unless we've agreed in writing at least 30 days before it starts. An announced sale may need a DTI sales promotion permit, and the announcement must then show the permit number.
6. Paying outside KantoPay
- 6a. On your KantoPay store, in your listings, and when you answer a player we send you, never post another way to pay: your own GCash or Maya QR, bank details, PayPal, or a link to another store. A sale that starts on your KantoPay store is paid through KantoPay (Acceptable Use, section 4). Don't use a player's details from a KantoPay order to sell to them elsewhere unless they agreed to it directly with you (clause 9).
- 6b. Never tell a player to dispute or charge back a payment. If a player wants their money back, send them to us at support@kantopay.com. If a dispute comes from what you did or said, you pay its cost: the Trade Price plus the ₱20 admin fee (clause 7).
- 6c. Never tell a player to pay with someone else's GCash, Maya, bank or card without that person's okay, or to buy without a parent's okay (Terms of Sale, section 7). Many players are children, and the law lets a child's purchase be undone. Don't pressure players to buy.
7. Support
- 7a. When we send a player to you, reply within 72 hours (clause 4) and help us settle it within 5 days of our message. A player whose complaint isn't settled within 7 days of reaching us can take it to the DTI.
- 7b. A purchase that didn't arrive comes first. Check the order's delivery in your dashboard and fix whatever stopped it.
- 7c. Away for a while? Tell us, so players aren't left waiting. A store that doesn't support what it sold may be paused, and its players refunded.
8. Testimonials, numbers and honesty
- 8a. Testimonials on your store are real players' own words, used with their permission in writing (a message saying yes is enough). Never write them yourself or change what they said, and show only their in-game name.
- 8b. Don't buy from your own store, or have friends or alternate accounts buy, to fill recent purchases, a goal or a leaderboard.
- 8c. Never reward only good feedback. Anything you give for feedback goes to everyone who gives it, whatever they say.
- 8d. Numbers on your store must be real. Don't type in goal progress, player counts, sales or other stats that aren't true.
9. Conduct
On your store, in what you write to players, and in what you write to us.
- 9a. No hate speech: no slurs or attacks on anyone for their race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexuality, disability, where they're from, or any other part of who they are, in item names, pictures, descriptions or messages.
- 9b. Treat players, other creators and our team with respect.
- 9c. Don't call other creators or players scammers, cheats or thieves, or otherwise run them down, on your store or to other players. If you have a problem with one, email us at support@kantopay.com.
- 9d. Never threaten or harass a player, including one who asked for a refund or charged back. Tell us and let us handle it.
- 9e. Never post or share a player's name, in-game name or order to shame them, such as a "chargeback list" or a "scammer" post, on your store or anywhere else. Never tell a player you'll post about them unless they pay or drop a dispute.
- 9f. Many players are children. Never send a player anything sexual, ask for photos of them, or ask to meet them, on KantoPay or anywhere else. We close the account, keep the records and report it to the authorities (RA 11930).
- 9g. Use what an order tells you about a player, such as their name or in-game name, only to deliver it, stop fraud and help with it (clause 9). Don't message them about anything else unless they asked you to, and never share, post or sell their details.
10. When rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is and how often it happens, we may give a warning; remove an item or listing; pause a store; hold sales or payouts as the Creator Agreement allows; or remove access and close the account (clause 8). Serious breaches, such as fraud, stolen payments or sending players to pay outside KantoPay, can go straight to closing the account, and may be reported to the authorities or rights holders (Acceptable Use, section 5). We keep a record of breaches. If you think we got it wrong, reply to our notice or email support@kantopay.com and we'll look again.
