How to price ranks, in pesos

RANK ₱500 −₱47.50 5% margin 1.5% QR Ph 3% tax allowance YOU KEEP ₱452.50 of every ₱500 QR Ph sale

Start from what you keep

There is no single right price for a rank, but there is a way to find yours. Work out what each sale leaves you, what the rank will cost you to keep giving, and what you can promise for as long as players hold it. Here is that method in pesos, for a Minecraft server whose players pay from the Philippines, with KantoPay’s numbers as they stood on October 16, 2026.

On KantoPay a player pays the price you set, in pesos, by scanning a QR Ph code with GCash, Maya or any bank or e-wallet app. KantoPay sells the item to the player as merchant of record and buys it from you at a trade price: your price less our 5% margin and less 3% of what the player paid, which allows for the percentage tax we pay the BIR as the seller. The QR Ph fee, 1.5%, comes off what we owe you.1, 2 There is no fixed fee on a sale, so every price leaves you the same 90.5%.

Player paysOur margin, 5%QR Ph, 1.5%Tax allowance, 3%You keep
₱20₱1.00₱0.30₱0.60₱18.10
₱100₱5.00₱1.50₱3.00₱90.50

₱500₱25.00₱7.50₱15.00₱452.50
₱1,000₱50.00₱15.00₱30.00₱905.00
A QR Ph sale on KantoPay, whichever app the player scans with. Cashing out to GCash, Maya or a Philippine bank costs ₱10 each time, whatever the amount.1 Try any price in the earnings calculator, under QR Ph.

Work backwards from what you want. Divide the amount you want to keep by 0.905. To keep ₱500 from each sale, charge ₱553, and just over ₱500 is yours.

Small prices work too. With no fixed fee, a ₱20 item still leaves you ₱18.10, and checkout takes orders from ₱1.5

The prices here are examples. They show the arithmetic, not what your server should charge. What your players can pay, and what they already buy from you, will tell you more than any table.

Lifetime, monthly or seasonal

A rank can be sold three ways, and each is a different promise to the player.

For as long as the server runs. The player pays once and keeps the rank. This is what most people mean by a lifetime rank. In a KantoPay listing, don’t call it “lifetime” or “permanent”: our Creator Rules ask you to say “for as long as the server runs” instead, and to say if a season wipe or reset takes it away.3 It is the more honest name for the same thing, because no server runs forever.

For a number of days. A 30-day rank is a product with Remove after set to 30 days. When the days are up, the KantoPay plugin runs the commands in the product’s If refunded, run these box, the same ones a refund runs, on the servers that delivered it. Leave that box empty and nothing is removed.5 KantoPay has no subscriptions, so nothing renews by itself: each month is a new purchase the player chooses to make.5 If they buy again before the old one runs out, the rank carries on, and the new 30 days count from the day they renewed, not from the end of the old ones.

For one season. If your server wipes on a schedule, a season rank lasts until the next wipe. Remove after counts days from each purchase, not up to a date, so it suits a rank that lasts a set time better than one that ends on a set day. For a season, name the wipe date in the listing and take the ranks away at the wipe. Our Refund Policy doesn’t refund an item lost to a reset or season wipe that its listing told the player about,4 which is one more reason to say it plainly.

The arithmetic. Say a rank costs ₱500 for as long as the server runs, or ₱150 for 30 days (example prices). One sale of the first leaves you ₱452.50. The 30-day rank leaves ₱135.75 each time, and passes ₱452.50 only on the fourth payment, at ₱543.00 in all. Monthly income is steadier while players renew and smaller when they don’t; a one-time sale is all up front and never repeats from that player.

What a lifetime rank costs you

A rank sold once is paid for once, but you keep giving it for as long as the server runs. That is worth pricing in.

Every perk is a promise. Whatever a rank includes on the day it is sold, the player expects to keep. A perk you later find unfair, or costly to run, is hard to take back from people who paid for it. It is easier to add a perk later than to take one away.

Its sales shrink over time. Each player buys a lifetime rank once. As your regular players buy it, the people left to sell it to are mostly new ones. A store that sells only once-per-player items needs new players to keep selling; things a player can buy again, such as keys, currency or a monthly rank, even that out.

If the server closes or changes hands. If a server shuts down, or changes hands and the new owner doesn’t keep what players bought, our Refund Policy refunds the unused part of a timed item, such as a 30-day rank, and any unspent gift card balance.4 A rank sold for as long as the server runs isn’t among them. A refunded sale comes off your balance.3 When a server changes hands, players keep what they already bought, so agree that with the new owner.3 The policy doesn’t promise how long a server runs, which is why a rank is sold for as long as the server runs, and never as forever.4

Promise only what you can keep. Before you sell a rank with no end date, ask whether you would still give every perk in it if the server ran another five years, and whether a wipe would take any of it away. If a wipe would, say so in the listing.

Tiers, upgrades and perks

A rank ladder is a few tiers, each one including the one below. On KantoPay, switch on Ladder for a category and its products become tiers, ordered by price with the dearest first. A player who owns a tier pays only the difference to move up: everything they have already paid into that ladder comes off the price of the next tier.5

TierPricePays to move upYou keep on that step
VIP₱150₱150 (the first buy)₱135.75
VIP+₱300₱150₱135.75
MVP₱600₱300₱271.50
Example prices, to show the arithmetic. A player who climbs all three pays ₱600 in all, the same as buying MVP outright, and you keep ₱543.00 either way. Checkout works out each upgrade from what that player has paid into the ladder.5

Nobody pays twice. A player can buy the tier they can afford today and move up later without paying again for what they already have. Starting small costs them nothing extra.

Keep timed ranks out of a ladder. Checkout counts every peso a player has paid into a ladder, even for a timed rank that has since run out. So a 30-day rank inside a ladder can be bought only once: when the player comes back to renew it, checkout tells them they already own it. Sell timed ranks in a category of their own.

Space the tiers by what they add. Each step up should add something a player can see and wants, not only a bigger price. A short ladder is easier to compare at a glance, and your top tier sets how much a player can spend on ranks at all.

Cosmetics or convenience. Mojang’s Minecraft Usage Guidelines let a server sell cosmetics, except capes or anything made to look like one, and sell things that affect gameplay only if they don’t ruin other players’ experience or give a competitive advantage.6 A chat colour, a tag or a particle trail is plainly cosmetic. A perk that saves time, such as extra homes, sits closer to the line, and on a PvP or economy server it can become an advantage. Mojang keeps the right to decide whether the way a server is monetized fits its brand, so when a perk is borderline, leave it out or give it to everyone. The guidelines also ask that players can see what you sell, and its price, before they join.6 Our Creator Rules ask you to follow them.3

Bundles, currency and crates

Ranks are bought once or renewed. The rest of a store holds the things a player can buy more than once.

Bundles. A bundle is one product that runs several commands: a rank with a starter kit, say, or keys for three crates. Price it below the same items bought one by one if you like, but only claim a saving against prices you really charge for those items on their own.

Currency packs. Mojang’s guidelines allow in-game currency as long as it has no real-world value: it can’t be cashed out, used or moved on other servers, or turned into real money, and it shouldn’t look like Minecoins or carry a name like theirs.6 Say how much currency each pack gives, so players can compare packs for themselves. Very cheap packs have one limit: a buyer can place up to ten orders under ₱20 an hour at one store. They can still buy more in one order by raising the quantity.5

Crates and keys. Crates, keys and spins are allowed on KantoPay when every prize is something in your game. Never a prize of money, e-wallet or bank credit, store credit, a gift card, or anything a player can cash out or sell for real money, and the listing must say what the crate can give.3 We would go one step further and publish the odds of each prize, so a player knows their chances before they pay for a key. Mojang’s guidelines ask that everything on a server suits all ages, and name gambling among the things that don’t,6 and loot-box mechanics that Philippine law regulates or prohibits aren’t allowed on KantoPay at all.7 So keep crates a bonus rather than the heart of your store. This is not legal advice; if you aren’t sure about a crate, write to support@kantopay.com before you sell it.

Gift cards, sales and coupons

Gift cards. A gift card lets a parent or a friend pay for something without choosing it for the player. On KantoPay you set the amounts, from ₱20, and the cards never expire, as the Gift Check Act requires, so a player can always spend what is left.3, 5 You can also give cards away in Discord with /kanto giftcard.8 If the server shuts down before a card is spent, the player gets the unused balance back.4

Sales, done honestly. A sale on KantoPay is a percentage off with a start and an end date, and it can run for 3 months at most, extensions included. When it ends, the item goes back to its normal price before the next sale. Your store shows a crossed-out “was” price only once the item has been on offer at that price for 28 of the last 90 days, so a new or just-changed price shows none.3, 5

The rules that come with a sale. They follow the Consumer Act and the DTI’s rules on sales promotions. Don’t raise a price just before or after a sale to make the discount look bigger. No fake countdowns, and no “only 3 left” unless it is true; an item on sale can’t have a stock limit. Show a sale on your store page only: announcing it in Discord or anywhere else needs our written agreement at least 30 days before it starts, because an announced sale may need a DTI permit. And no prize for a top spender, or any prize a player must buy to join, without our written agreement and a DTI permit; a Top Customers list is fine on its own, as long as no prize is attached.3 This is a summary of our rules, not legal advice.

Coupons and codes for partners. A coupon takes a percentage or a fixed amount off at checkout, with an optional cap, minimum order, number of uses, expiry date and list of products it works on. Give a code to a YouTuber, streamer or staff member and the dashboard counts the cut they earn on every order that uses it; you pay them yourself.5 Mojang asks you to require influencers who promote your server, on YouTube, Twitch and the like, to say they are connected to it.6

Questions

How much should I charge for a rank?

There is no one right number. Decide what you want to keep from each sale and divide it by 0.905, check what the rank will cost you to keep giving, and ask whether you can promise it for as long as you sell it. Then look at your own players: what they buy now, and what they ask for.

Lifetime or monthly: which earns more?

Divide the one-time price by the monthly price: the monthly rank brings in more from the first payment past that number. ₱500 once against ₱150 for 30 days is about 3.3, so it passes on the fourth payment, if the player keeps paying.

Can I sell a “lifetime” rank on KantoPay?

You can sell a rank with no end date. Call it “for as long as the server runs”, not “lifetime” or “permanent”, and say if a season wipe or reset takes it away.3

Does renewing early add the days?

No. A renewal starts its own days from the day it is paid, so days left on the old purchase don’t carry over. Say so in the listing, so players know to renew near the end.5

What is the lowest price I can set?

Checkout takes orders from ₱1, and gift cards start at ₱20.5 With no fixed fee, a ₱20 item leaves you ₱18.10.

What happens to what players bought if my server closes?

Players are refunded the unused part of a timed item, such as a 30-day rank, and any unspent gift card balance; a rank sold for as long as the server runs isn’t covered by those refunds. A refunded sale comes off your balance.3, 4 If you hand the server over to someone else, tell us first.3
