Introduction
Gift cards on KantoPay now look like your server. Design the card, write the email that carries it, and give cards away in your Discord with one command.
A gift card lets someone pay now and leave the choosing to someone else: a present for a friend who plays on your server, or a thank-you to your players. Here is what you can do with them.
Sell them. Add set amounts from ₱20, each with an optional label such as Starter, or let buyers type their own amount anywhere between a lowest and a highest you choose. You can offer both. A card someone paid for never expires, and its balance stays theirs until it is spent: that is what the Gift Check Act (RA 10962) requires.
Design them. Choose a colour, or upload a picture of your own (PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB), and give the card a title of up to 28 characters. On a colour card the text turns dark or light to stay readable. The same card appears in the buyer’s email, in your store’s gift card block and on the receipt.
Word the email. Everything above the footer is yours to write: the subject, the headline, the text, an extra message and the small print. {shop} and {amount} are filled in when it is sent, in every box but the extra message, and a box you leave empty keeps the default wording. Show the card or leave it out, and give the code a box of its own if you want it to stand apart; it always gets one when the card is hidden. The preview beside the form is drawn by the same code that sends the email. The footer, which says the email comes from your store via KantoPay, always stays.
Give them away. Run /kanto giftcard in your Discord and Kanto posts free gift cards in that channel. The first people to press Claim each get one.
Giveaways in Discord
/kanto giftcard posts a giveaway in the channel where you run it. You choose what each card is worth, how long claiming stays open, how many people can win and how long each code works once it is claimed. Only the amount is required, so /kanto giftcard amount:100 is a complete giveaway.
/kanto giftcard.
- Whole pesos. ₱20 is the same floor as a card someone buys.
- Write spans in minutes, hours, days or weeks, like
30m,2h,1dor1w, or combine them, like1d12h. A bare number is refused, because it could mean minutes, hours or days.
Only members with Manage Server or Administrator can run it, and whoever starts a giveaway can’t claim from it. A store can have up to five giveaways open at once.
First come, first served. Places go to whoever presses Claim first, one per person. Each press is settled in one database step, so even when many people press at once there are never more winners than places.
Codes arrive privately. Each winner gets their own code in a direct message from Kanto, with what it is worth, where to spend it and until when. If their DMs are closed, the code appears in a private reply only they can see, and pressing Claim again shows it again.
The post updates itself. With more than one place, it counts down the places left. When claiming closes, it names the winners, or says nobody claimed in time. Places nobody takes never become cards.
Giveaway cards are promotional. A giveaway card works for the code_lasts you set, counted from the moment it is claimed, and then expires. A card someone paid for never does. Starting a giveaway takes nothing from your balance. When a winner spends their card, it pays for their order like a coupon, and you earn on whatever they pay on top, as with any sale.
Design the post
Kanto’s giveaway post works with no setup. To make it your own, open Integrations in the dashboard and switch the Discord message editor from Sale post to Gift card giveaway; the Design the giveaway post button on the Gift Cards page takes you straight there. Each post keeps its own saved copy, so switching between them loses nothing.
Cards or Blocks. Cards is the classic Discord look: a coloured card with a title, fields and a picture, with the Claim button under it. Blocks puts text, pictures, dividers, buttons, menus and coloured boxes in any order, the way Discord’s own announcements are laid out. A new giveaway post starts in Blocks.
More than a Claim button. In Blocks, a button or a menu option can also give a role, take one away, reply privately, or add a product to the presser’s cart.
Put the Claim button where it fits. In Blocks, add it as a block anywhere in the post; leave it out and Kanto puts it at the end. In Cards, it sits under the card. Either way it turns grey by itself once every place is claimed or time runs out.
One ping, when it goes up. Ping nobody, @everyone, @here or a role. Kanto’s later edits to the post ping nobody. For @everyone and @here, Kanto needs Mention Everyone in that channel, or the post goes up without the ping.
Variables fill in the details. Type them into the post, or press one above the editor to insert it.
| Variable | What it shows |
|---|---|
{amount} | Each card’s value, like 500.00. Add the ₱ yourself. |
{shop} | Your store’s name |
{winners} | How many people can claim a card |
{left} | Places still open |
{ends} | When claiming closes, as a live countdown |
{status} | How it stands: time and places left, who claimed, or that nobody did |
{card_image} | Your gift card’s picture, when the card uses one; empty on a colour card. The only variable that works in pictures and links. |
Preview every state. The preview beside the editor shows the post Open, Claimed or Expired, with sample winners, so you can read it the way your server will before anyone presses anything. A giveaway post has no test send: it only goes out from /kanto giftcard.
Availability
Gift cards, their design and email, and /kanto giftcard are available to every creator today. Set up your amounts, design and email in the Gift Cards tab of your dashboard.
For giveaways, Kanto has to be in your Discord server, the server has to be connected to your store from the Discord card under Integrations, and Kanto needs to be able to see and send messages in the channel. Selling gift cards and checking a balance from your own site are covered in the API docs.
